Rosettes reward winning efforts Posted on September 18, 2018 0 Alexandr Weaver of Kenton showed his ability to create with wood and the judge of the high school division in the fine arts show recognized it with a grand championship rosette. Julie Zaring of Forest took home a title from the Hardin County Fair flower show with her artistic design with roses entry. The judge named (from left) Linda St. Clair’s glass toothpick holder a winner in the antique contest and honored the wind-up tin clown toy of Dixie Shepherd with a title. Both women are from Kenton. Janet Billenstein earned a grand championship title for her canned peaches at the 2018 Hardin County Fair. Mariann Woodruff and her brother, Carl, both of Kenton, created winning entries in the youth ceramic competition at the 2018 Hardin County Fair. Mariann’s pumpkin was selected as the reserve champion in the holiday division and her chicken was named grand champion. Carl’s dolphins captured to a reserve title and his Christmas tree was the top entry in the holiday division. It also was named the Family Choice winner of the show. Evan Rall had what it took to get the judge’s attention in the fine arts show this year. He earned a grand championship title with his Leggo creation and then captured a second with his patriotic wreath made from clothes pins. Catherine Osborne (left) created the reserve champion entry in the adult craft competition of the fine arts show of the Hardin County Fair. Julie Zaring of Forest caught the judge’s eye with her painted kitten on a rock. Jayden Modd earned a reserve championship title in the youth division of the arts and craft show with his tractor cookies. His parents are Eric and Kerri Modd of Kenton. Horses were popular subjects at this year’s fine arts show at the Hardin County Fair. Donna Brinkley of Ada earned a reserve championship with her photograph and Avery Fox of Belle Center captured a reserve honor with her colored pencil drawing. This year’s Beef Dish Day spotlighted recipes using crock pots. The winner was Colleen Collins with a pepper steak entry. Second place went to Jeanette Kiper for her Italian beef. Elaine Hoover was named third-place winner with a taco soup. Marlene Brooks took home fourth-place honors with a French onion casserole. With the winners are Madison Jolliff and Brian Searson.
