NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING #1
Hardin County intends to apply to the Ohio Development of Development for funding under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Small Cities Program, HOME Investment Partnerships Program, and other related federally-funded programs administered by the state. The county is eligible for several different types of PY 2025 CDBG/HOME funding, which includes but not limited to: Community Development Program (i.e. Allocation Grants, Neighborhood Revitalization Grants, Critical Infrastructure Grants), Economic Development Loan and Public Infrastructure Grant Program (i.e. Economic Development Loan Program, Economic Development Public Infrastructure Grant Program, Residential Public Infrastructure Grant Program), and Community Housing Impact and Preservation (CHIP) Program, etc., providing applicable program requirements are met.
The State of Ohio will have approximately $82 million to distribute statewide. Hardin County may be eligible to apply for approximately up to: $200,000.00 in Allocation Grants, $750,000.00 in Neighborhood Revitalization Grants, $500,000.00 in Critical Infrastructure Grants, $500,000.00 each in Economic Development Loan Program and Economic Development Public Infrastructure Grant Program, $750,000.00 in Residential Public Infrastructure Grant Program, and $700,000.00 in Community Housing Impact and Preservation (CHIP) Program, as well as funding for other grants/loans.
The first of several public hearings will be held on April 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hardin County Board of Commissioner's Office at the Hardin County Courthouse, One Courthouse Sq., Suite 100, Kenton, Ohio 43326 to provide citizens with pertinent information about the CDBG, HOME, and other related programs, including an explanation of eligible activities, but not limited of improvements to: handicapped access, economic development, streets, water, sanitary and storm sewers, parks, demolition, rehabilitation of public facilities, rehabilitation of housing and neighborhood facilities, as well as other improvements. The activities must be designed to primarily benefit low and moderate-income persons, eliminate slum and blight, or meet an urgent need of the community.
Citizens and organizations are encouraged to attend this public hearing to obtain additional information about the available grant/loan programs.
In addition to this public hearing a required Hardin County Community Development Implementation Strategy (CDIS) meeting for local invited stakeholders (i.e. villages, cities, etc.) will be held on April 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hardin County Veteran’s Hall at the Hardin County Courthouse, One Courthouse Sq., Suite 100a, Kenton, Ohio 43326. This meeting will discuss the needs/opportunities and possible projects of local jurisdictions that may be eligible through the CDBG, HOME, or any other local, state, or federal programs.
