North Union dealt Ben Logan its first Central Buckeye Conference volleyball loss of the season on Saturday, defeating the Raiders 25-23, 25-18, 20-25, 27-25 on Saturday. Sarah VanDyke had 9 kills, 4 blocks and 5 aces; Molly Vance added 10 kills and Bailey Shope recorded 9 kills, 19 digs and 2 blocks to lead the Raiders.

BLUFFTON — Riverdale and Bluffton traded goals in each half as the teams played to a 2-2 tie in non-league girls soccer action on Saturday. Hanna Breidenbach scored both goals for the Falcons, who are now 4-1-2 on the season.

MOUNT BLANCHARD  — Archbold defeated Riverdale 3-0 in a non-league boys soccer matchup on Saturday. The Falcons, who received 7 saves from goalkeeper Ethan Shane, were outshot 11-10 in the game. Elijah Zimmerman, Josh Kidder and Javier Peche netted goals for Archbold.

LIMA — Ron Banks ran for three first half touchdowns and Nevan Stolly threw two touchdown passes as Lima Central Catholic routed Ada 43-20 in a non-league football game on Saturday night. The Thunderbird, who led 43-6 after returning the second half kickoff 74 yards for a touchdown, improve to 3-0 on the season.

There was a three-way tie for first place between Doug Camper, Mike Fink and Terry Nichols in weekly round play of the senior league at the Memorial Park Golf Course. Jerry Fraber was able to maintain his first place lead by a very narrow margin over second place finisher Doug Camper.

DEFIANCE — Kenton took advantage of several early Defiance miscues to build a large lead by halftime before putting the game on cruise control in the second half on the way to a 48-10 victory on Friday night. The Wildcats, who raced out to a 21-0 lead before the game was four minutes only, improve to 2-1 on the season …

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale showed last week what it could do with its ground game, running for 301 yards in a victory against Hardin Northern. On Friday night, the Falcons showed they could take to the air.

BELLEFONTAINE — Ben Logan struck early and often against Upper Scioto Valley on Friday night, putting the non-conference game out of reach by halftime and earning a 50-0 victory. The win lifts the Raiders to 2-1 overall, while the Rams fall to 1-2.

RIDGEWAY — Ridgemont fell 58-6 to Lakota in Friday night’s non-conference football contest, dropping the Gophers to 1-2 on the season. Despite the 52-point loss, Gophers coach Todd Burris is still encouraged by what he’s seeing from his young team.

LAKESIDE — After grabbing a 19-14 halftime lead over Danbury, Hardin Northern was outscored 14-7 in the second half, falling 28-26 on Friday night. The non-conference loss drops the Polar Bears to 1-2 on the season, while the Lakers climb to 2-1.
