BELLEFONTAINE — The Kenton boys soccer season got off to a perfect start over the weekend. The Wildcats defeated host Benjamin Logan 3-1 on Saturday and Springfield 5-1 on Sunday on their way to winning the Quest Cup.

ADA — Ada had a successful start to the 2018 volleyball season on Saturday as the Bulldogs swept a tri-match against Cory-Rawson and Waynesfield-Goshen. The Bulldogs cruised past W-G in two games 25-2, 25-11.

VANLUE — The Ridgemont volleyball team opened the season with a five-set 25-22, 23-25, 18-25, 25-23, 15-8 victory over Vanlue on Saturday. Shaylee McGrath had 12 kills, 8 blocks and 4 aces and Cassidy Knapp added 10 kills and 18 digs to lead the Gophers. Allie Howard and Jennifer Jordan added 6 kills each.

ADA — Chris Reyes and Jacob Poling had goals as Ada opened the boys soccer season with a 2-1 win over Indian Lake on Saturday. Drew Hadley had 11 saves for the Bulldogs, who played the last 30 minutes of the game with nine men on the field.

BELLEFONTAINE — The Benjamin Logan Middle School volleyball team opened up its season Saturday with a tri-match against Riverside and Johnathan Alder. The seventh grade Lady Raiders beat Riverside in straight sets 25-9, 25-23.

In men’s senior league play at Memorial Park Golf Course, Duane Davis shot a 35 to take top honors for the week. Doug Camper was second and Mike Fink finished third.

BELLEFONTAINE — Host Ben Logan and played to 1-1 tie in the consolation game of the Quest Cup tournament on Sunday. George Kern scored off a Rylan Studebaker assist in the 35th minute to give the Raiders the 1-0 lead at half time, but Piqua tied the game in the 50th minute and neither team was able to put the ball in the net the rest of the game.

Marion Harding defeated Kenton 5-0 in girls tennis action on Friday afternoon. In singles competition, Marion Harding's Maggie Pitts defeated Kenton's Mykaela Schriber 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 1 match; Nicole Flock bested Kenton's Kelsey Flowers 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 (super tie-breaker) and Tyler Simmers bettered the Wildcats’ Lily Osborn 6-0, 6-2.

LIMA — The Kenton High School golf team topped Bath 195-224 in its Western Buckeye League opener at Hidden Creek Golf Course on Thursday. Rocco Longbrake carded a 46 to lead the Wildcats, while Ethan Wirbel followed with a 48.
