Hipsher, Britton lead USV runners

ATTICA — Upper Scioto Valley’s Brady Hipsher and Zack Britton both finished in the top 15 during the Seneca East Cross Country Invitational on Saturday. Hipsher was ninth in a field of runners numbering more than 200 in a time of 17:56, while Britton was close behind in 15th in a time of 18:07.

Kenton got off to a good start against Coldwater at Robinson Field on Friday night, needing just three offensive plays from scrimmage after receiving the opening kickoff to go ahead 7-0. However, the visiting Cavaliers were able to keep pace early and then took advantage of several Wildcat special teams mistakes and turnovers to take control of the game in pulling away for a 52-27 victory.

Wetherill leads HN to win over Arcadia

ARCADIA — Owen Wetherill’s four rushing touchdowns helped lead the Hardin Northern Polar Bears to a 35-14 win over Arcadia in the opening game of the season on Friday. Wetherill racked up 173 yards on 19 carries, scoring from 2, 13, 6 and 61 yards out.
