Lady Falcons blast North Baltimore, 14-1

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale scored three runs in the second inning, four more in the third and six in the fourth on the way to a 14-1 Blanchard Valley Conference softball win over North Baltimore on Wednesday. The Falcons, who improve to 8-3 on the season, were paced by pitcher Alison Donaugh, who had four hits with a pair of doubles and four RBIs.

Big innings lift N. Union to win over Ben Logan

BELLEFONTAINE — North Union had a seven-run third inning and a 10-run fourth inning on the way to an 18-13 victory over Ben Logan in a Central Buckeye Conference baseball game on Wednesday afternoon. Trace Tevis had four hits and a pair of RBIs to lead the Raiders, who after falling behind 17-2, scored seven runs in the fourth inning and four more in the sixth frame.

Sixth-inning runs push Raiders past North Union

BELLEFONTAINE — Haley Wilson knocked home the go-ahead runs with a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Ben Logan to a 2-1 win over North Union in Central Buckeye Conference softball action on Wednesday. Gretchen Wilbur walked and Jen Naragon reached base in the sixth with a single in front of Wilson’s go-ahead double as the Raiders finished with just two hits in the game, Grace Deardurff earned the pitching win.

Leipsic cruises by Ada

LEIPSIC — Host Leipsic scored early and often on the way to a 13-0 victory over Ada in a non-league baseball game on Wednesday. The Vikings scored six times in the first inning and twice in the second before putting the game out of reach with five in the third.

Lady Gophers stave off Sidney Lehman

SIDNEY — Ridgemont built an eight-run lead and then held off a Lehman Catholic rally in the final two innings for a 10-9 Northwest Central Conference softball victory on Tuesday afternoon. The Gophers led 4-1 after four innings before scoring five runs in the top of the fifth to go ahead 9-1.

Sosby stepping down as BL girls hoop coach

BELLEFONTAINE — After 13 years at the helm of the Ben Logan girls basketball program, Donnie Sosby has decided to step away from coaching the Lady Raiders. Sosby was 158-134 during his tenure. The Raiders won six CBC Mad River Division titles, including division titles in each of the past five seasons.

HN boys second in quadrangular meet

DOLA — The host Hardin Northern boys were second and the Polar Bears girls were fourth in a quadrangular track meet on Tuesday afternoon. McComb won the boys meet with 81 points followed by Hardin Northern with 80. Arcadia was third with 61 and North Baltimore was last with 19.
