The Kenton Wildcats are one win away from the school’s first-ever Western Buckeye League boys soccer title. Riley Risner scored Kenton’s lone goal 11 minutes into the second half off a cross pass from Hayden Hicks as Wildcats held off Wapakoneta 1-0 in a WBL match on Monday night.
SWANTON — After taking a lead in the first half, the Riverdale Lady Falcons gave up three-straight goals to fall 3-1 to Swanton on Monday. The loss drops Riverdale to 8-5-2, while Swanton improves to 8-5-3.
The Riverdale Youth Varsity Football team finished in first place in the Northwest Ohio Youth Football League after its final regular season game against the Arlington Red Devils.
The Kenton boys soccer team played their final home game of the regular season on Monday night when the Wildcats topped Wapakoneta 1-0 in a Western Buckeye League matchup. The Wildcats will get one more game at Merold Field this fall, however, as they received the top-seed in the Elida sectional tournament draw and will play host to either Lima Bath or Upper Sandusky in a sectional final contest at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17.
SPRINGFIELD — Northwestern edged Ben Logan 2-1 in a Central Buckeye Conference boys soccer match on Monday afternoon. George Kern scored the Raiders’ goal on a double assist from Rylan Studebaker and Dylan Welch.
The Kenton girls soccer team will host its sectional opener. The Wildcats, who were seeded No. 7, will play at Merold Field against No. 8 seeded Upper Sandusky at 7 p.m. Monday.
