COLUMBUS — Sydney Wesson has a two-day total of 169 (82-87) to lead the Ben Logan girls golf team to a seventh place finish of 12 teams in the Division II girls state golf tournament in Columbus on Saturday. Mailiis Simovart added a 178 (91-87) , Leeah Valentine shot a 190 (92-98); Willow Titus a 216 (115-101) and Gabrielle Schmidt a 223 (107-116).
FINDLAY — Juleigha Collier was second and Kendra Collier was third to lead the Riverdale girls cross country team to a second place finish at the Blanchard Valley Conference meet on Saturday at Owens Community College.
CELINA — Kenton placed its top five runners in the top 40 as the Lady Wildcats ran to a fourth place finish in the Western Buckeye League cross country meet on Saturday morning. Kierra Krohmer led the way for the Lady Wildcats, running to fifth in the field of 84 runners in a time of 20:59).
ADA — Chris Reyes had three goals and an assist as Ada got past Spencerville 5-3 in a Northwest Conference boys soccer match on Saturday. LARUE — Hardin Northern took second place with 47 points and Upper Scioto Valley finished third out of five teams with 78 points in Saturday’s Northwest Central Conference cross country meet. Winning the event was Elgin with 29 points.
In Monday Fall League play at Memorial Park Golf Course, the team of David Bettinger, Chris Rogers, Cole Weyant, Rick Brown and Tami McFadden is holding onto first place with a 32-under par. In second place is the team of Jordan Johnson, Todd Hayter, Randy Comer, Russ Wallace and Vicki Brown with a 27-under; while the team of Brad Hanna, DeWayne Spencer, Jeff Butcher, Tom Taylor and Joni Rensing is in third place with a 26-under.
SPENCERVILLE — Ada’s Miguel Jordan was 11th of 87 runners in 17:58 to lead the Bulldogs at the Northwest Conference cross country meet on Saturday. Ada was fifth of six teams in the standing with 135 points. Columbus Grove won the meet with 30 points.
OTTAWA — Kenton looked like it was going to set the tone of the game early against Ottawa-Glandorf on Friday night, driving deep inside Titan territory on the first possession of the game after receiving the opening kickoff. Instead its was the Titans that dictated the game as after recovering a Wildcat fumble on their own two yard line, they drove 98 yards in 14 plays to take an early lead.
DOLA — The Hardin Northern Polar Bears struck early and often while keeping Ridgemont off the board until late in the fourth quarter, defeating the Gophers 55-6 in Friday’s Hardin County matchup. The Northwest Central Conference win improves the Polar Bears’ record to 3-5 overall, 2-3 in the conference. The Gophers drop to 1-7, 0-5 with the loss.
PAULDING — Ada’s offense was unable to find its footing in Friday night’s Northwest Conference contest against Paulding, with the Bulldogs taking the 35-0 loss. The Bulldogs drop to 2-6 overall, 1-4 in the NWC while the Panthers improve to 3-5, 3-2.
