Area swimmers advance to district meet

Sectional swimming

A pair of area swimmers qualified for this week’s Division II district meet at Bowling Green State University during sectional competition at Ayersville High School on Saturday. Ada junior Klava Katayama earned a spot for the third year in a row by winning the sectional in the 100 butterfly and 50 freestyle.

KHS girls get win over W-G

WAYNESFIELD — Kenton defeated Waynesfield-Goshen 54-41 in a non-league girls basketball game on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats got off to a quick start, outscoring the host Tigers 13-7 in the first quarter and 11-4 in the second quarter before playing the Tigers even in the second half.

Arn leads BL swimmers at SW sectional meet

TROTWOOD — The Ben Logan swim teams advanced three individuals to the district swim meet during Division II sectional competition at Trotwood Madison High School on Saturday. Leading the way for the Raiders was Macy Arn, who remained on track to advance to the state meet for a third consecutive year with second place efforts in the 50 and 100 freestyles.

Stuck hits 5 triples in Ridgemont’s victory

ARCADIA — Mason Stuck hit six three-pointers and had a game-high 27 points to help Ridgemont slip past Arcadia 62-60 in a non-league basketball contest on Saturday. The Gophers led 18-8 after one quarter and 33-26 at halftime before Arcadia trimmed their lead to 43-38 after the third eight minutes.

Sanders big game helps USV top Cory-Rawson

RAWSON — USV overcame a slow start by outscoring Cory-Rawson by 14 points in the second half on the way to a 52-44 non-league boys basketball victory on Saturday night. The Rams, who improve to 13-5 on the season, rallied from 33-27 halftime deficit, outscoring Cory-Rawson 10-5 in the third quarter and 15-6 over the final eight minutes.

Bluffton makes quick work of Riverdale boys

BLUFFTON — Bluffton got off to a quick start, building a large lead by halftime before cruising through the second half for a 55-38 victory over Riverdale in a non-league boys basketball contest on Saturday night. The hosts led 21-6 after eight minutes and 35-14 by halftime before being outscored 24-18 by the Falcons in the second half.

Ottawa-Glandorf too much for Wildcats

Going inside

Ottawa-Glandorf controlled the game from start to finish on the way to a 72-43 victory over Kenton in Western Buckeye League boys basketball action Friday night. The Titans, ranked No. 5 in the latest Associated Press Division III state poll, pulled away with an 11-3 run in the first four minutes of the second quarter as they improved to 15-2 on the season and 7-0 in WBL play.
