Swing thoughts: November 5, 2018

In the Monday Fall League at Memorial Park Golf Course, the team of David Bettinger, Chris Rogers, Cole Weyant, Rick Brown and Tami McFadden finished the league in first place with a 45 under. The second place team was Brad Hanna, DeWayne Spencer, Jeff Butcher, Tom Taylor and Joni Rensing at 41 under; while the team of Jordan Johnson, Todd Hayter, Randy Comer, Russ Wallace and Vicki Brown was third with a 40 under.

OHSAA postpones state X-country meet

COLUMBUS — The Ohio High School Athletic Association has postponed Saturday’s state cross country tournament to Saturday, Nov. 10, due to flooding conditions on the course at National Trail Raceway in Hebron. Riverdale’s Kendra Collier and Ben Logan’s Dani Widmark are slated to compete in the tournament.

Wildcats top TCC 4-0 to advance to regional final

FINDLAY — If there were any jitters for the members of the Kenton boys soccer team about playing in the school’s first ever regional tournament contest, the Wildcats did not show them on Wednesday night. The Wildcats dominated Toledo Central Catholic from start to finish, never letting the Irish get into any offensive flow, on the way to a 4-0 win.

HN’s Dennis selected NWCC coach of year

Hardin Northern coach Mike Dennis was voted the Northwest Central Conference football coach of the year and several area players were named to the league’s first and second team on the all-league team released earlier this week. Dennis, who has been battling adrenal cancer, was selected by his peers as the league’s top coach this season after guiding the Polar Bears through a 4-6 season that included a come-from-behind win over Riverside.
