Vanden Bosch shines as Falcons edge C-R

RAWSON — If there’s one person that the Riverdale girls basketball team has relied on this season, it’s senior forward Bry Vanden Bosch. In the midst of another slow start, a start in which the Falcons were trailing by 11 points early in the first quarter, the Falcons closed the half on a 14-point run, a run in which Vanden Bosch scored 11 of the Falcons’ 19 points the rest of the half.

Ada girls downed by Jefferson

DELPHOS — Delphos Jefferson jumped ahead early and never looked back in a 62-25 victory over Ada in a Northwest Conference girls basketball game on Thursday night. The host Wildcats led 23-6 after eight minutes and 37-8 by halftime before extending the advantage to 52-16 going in the fourth quarter.

Rams hosts Ridgemont in NWCC boys battle

McGUFFEY — Upper Scioto Valley looks to get back on a winning track when it hosts Ridgemont in a Northwest Central conference boys basketball game on Friday night. The Rams (3-2 on the season and 1-0 in the NWCC ) won two straight games before an 84-70 loss to Shawnee last Saturday. In that contest, Wayne Lowery led the Rams with a season-high 21 points.

Cory-Rawson hangs on to defeat Bulldogs

ADA — Cory-Rawson held off a second half rally by Ada for a 51-44 non-conference boys basketball win on Wednesday night. The visiting Hornets led 11-6 after eight minutes and 23-15 at halftime before Ada outscored them 19-13 in the third quarter to pull within 36-34 going into the final stanza.

BL swim teams win

URBANA — The Ben Logan boys and girls swim teams swept a double dual meet against Urbana and Fairbanks on Wednesday night at Urbana University. The Lady Raiders topped Urbana 101-53 and Fairbanks 118-10.

Ohio Northern women lose to Heidelberg, 82-77

TIFFIN — The Ohio Northern women's basketball program dropped a heartbreaking 82-77 decision in overtime to Ohio Athletic Conference rival Heidelberg Wednesday evening to wrap up the team's pre-Christmas slate. With the loss, the Polar Bears fall to 6-4 overall and to 1-4 in OAC action this season. Meanwhile, the Student Princes rise to 5-5 overall and 2-3 in the OAC.

Polar Bear men fall at home

ADA —Heidelberg defeated Ohio Northern 73-66 in an Ohio Athletic Conference men’s basketball game on Wednesday. Austin Allemeier and Ryan Bruns netted 20 points each to lead the Polar Bears, who drop to 3-7 overall and 0-5 in OAC action.
