USV boys get past P-G to improve to 5-2

McGUFFEY — Upper Scioto Valley pulled away in the second quarter on the way to a 42-30 win over Pandora-Gilboa in a non-league boys basketball game on Saturday night. Trailing 10-9 after eight minutes, the Rams outscored the Rockets 14-4 in the second eight minutes to take the lead.

Indian Lake topples Ridgemont in overtime

LEWISTOWN — Trailing 50-45 to Indian Lake entering the fourth quarter, the Ridgemont Golden Gophers fought back to force overtime in Saturday’s non-league boys basketball contest. But the comeback win wasn’t in the cards for the Gophers, who fell just short to Indian Lake by a score of 74-69.

HN falls to Monroeville

DOLA — Monroeville pulled away over the final three quarters for a 54-37 win over Hardin Northern in a non-league boys basketball game on Saturday night. Leading 13-12 after eight minutes, the visitors outscored the Polar Bears 13-8 in the second quarter and 11-4 in the third quarter to take a 37-24 lead into the final eight minutes.

The Bulldogs stepped up their offensive and defensive game in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 14-4 and completing the comeback for the 47-45 victory on Friday.

Falcons improve to 3-0 in BVC

NORTH BALTIMORE — By halftime in Friday night’s contest between Riverdale and North Baltimore, the visiting Falcons had already amounted a 43-27 lead. In the third quarter, the Falcons outscored the Tigers 26-13, cruising in the fourth to an 86-56 win in Friday’s boys basketball contest.

St. Joe streaks past HN

FREMONT — A 10-point first-half deficit proved too much for the Hardin Northern Polar Bears to overcome, falling to Fremont St. Joseph 68-47 in Friday’s non-league boys basketball contest. The loss puts the Polar Bears at 0-5 on the season, while the Crimson Streaks climb to 4-4.
