There will be a meeting for any Kenton High School boy that is interested in playing soccer next year at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the KHS library. The winter/spring schedule will be discussed.

LARUE — Elgin swept Ridgemont in a pair of middle school boys basketball games on Monday night. The seventh grade Gophers fell 29-16.

Ben Logan used strong second and fourth quarters to pull away for a 58-48 victory over Kenton in a non-league girls basketball game on Saturday afternoon. The Raiders, who improved to 2-1 on the season, trailed 18-17 with five minutes left in the second quarter before closing the first half with a 9-2 run to take a six-point lead into the intermission.

Kenton controlled the game from start to finish on the way to a 90-39 victory over Waynesfield-Goshen on Saturday night. The Wildcats, who connected on 12 three-pointers for the second game in a row to start the season, jumped ahead 23-10 after one quarter and 42-26 at halftime before putting the game away with a 27-7 advantage in the third quarter.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Trailing by just one to Wynford after the first quarter, the Riverdale Falcons were outscored 17-9 in the second. Unable to make up the difference, the Falcons fell to the Royals 52-38 in Saturday’s non-conference girls basketball contest.

MOUNT VICTORY — Landon Newland tallied 29 points as Ridgemont won its second straight game to start the boys basketball season, pulling away for a 68-55 victory over Madison Plains on Saturday. Grant Reppart added 11 for the Gophers, who led 23-11 after eight minutes and 36-19 at halftime.

FORT JENNINGS — Trailing Fort Jennings 13-7 after the first quarter, the Ada Bulldogs were unable to recover from the slow start and fell 50-39 in Saturday’s non-league boys basketball contest. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 0-2, while Fort Jennings records its first win at 1-1.

RAWSON — The Ada wrestling team started the season by going winless in five dual matches at the Cory-Rawson Invitational on Saturday. Delphos Jefferson beat Ada 42-24. Winning for Ada by pin was Colton Beiderman (120 pounds) and Reece Evans (160 pounds).

The clubhouse at Memorial Park Golf Course will be open from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. today through Friday for early pay discount membership renewals and new memberships at a 20 percent discount.

McGUFFEY — A 19-9 first quarter helped propel Upper Scioto Valley to an 81-45 victory over Riverdale in Saturday’s non-league boys basketball game. The win lifts the Rams to 1-0, while the Falcons drop to 0-2.
