Elgin tops Gophers in NWCC battle

MOUNT VICTORY — Elgin grabbed the upperhand over Ridgemont in the Northwest Central Conference girls basketball race on Thursday, pulling away from the Gophers over the final three quarters for a 73-50 victory. Ridgemont led 17-15 after eight minutes before being outscored 29-17 in the second quarter to fall behind by 10 points at halftime.

Kenton girls fall to Bath

LIMA — Bath outscored Kenton by 19 points in the second half on the way to a 49-30 victory in Western Buckeye League girls basketball action on Thursday night. The Kenton Wildcats led 5-2 after one quarter and the game was tied 14-14 at halftime before the Allen County Wildcats outscored Kenton 13-6 in the third quarter and 22-10 in the final eight minutes.

Bluffton blitzes Lady Bulldogs

BLUFFTON — Bluffton jumped out to a big lead early and never looked back on the way to a 79-16 victory over Ada in Northwest Conference girls basketball action on Thursday. The Pirates led 24-3 after eight minutes and 44-6 at halftime before coasting through the second half.

‘Cat grapplers pin Bath

The Kenton wrestling team defeated Bath 39-21 in a Western Buckeye League match on Thursday night. Winning matches for the Kenton were Josh Hart by pin over Kamrin Arnett in 1:11 at 126 pounds, Mason Rhoades by pin over Kamron Pirnet in 1:54 at 132 pounds and Noah Eikenbary was a 7-3 winner over Bath’s Fielden Deeds at 220 pounds.

R’side blasts Polar Bears

DOLA — Riverside took control early and never looked back on the way to a 53-13 victory over Hardin Northern in Northwest Central Conference girls basketball action on Thursday night. The visiting Pirates led 20-7 eight minutes into the game and 35-10 at halftime before outscoring Hardin Northern 18-3 in the second half.
