Botkins outshoots Gophers

BOTKINS — Botkins outscored Ridgemont in all four quarters on the way to a 87-67 win over the Gophers in boys basketball action on Friday night. The host Trojans led 24-15 after eight minutes and 45-34 at halftime before increasing their lead to 67-50 going into the four quarter.

Kenton broke open a tie game with an 8-2 run in the final two minutes of the game to pull away for a 57-51 victory over St. Marys and earn its first Western Buckeye League win of the season on Friday night. The Wildcats, who were paced by Jaron Sharp’s game-high 32-point effort, improve to 9-3 on the season and 1-3 in WBL play.

Perry hands USV first NWCC setback

McGUFFEY — After jumping out to a 21-17 lead on Perry early in the second quarter by way of the 3-ball, Upper Scioto Valley surrendered a 17-0 run that lasted into the third quarter, putting them down 13. The Rams managed to cut the lead to eight points midway through the third, but a key three-pointer by Perry’s Jamal Whiteside gave Perry the momentum it needed to cruise to a 68-44 victory on Friday night.
