The Kenton Youth Wrestling Club handed out awards after its inaugural season Thursday night. Isaiah Mundy and Anthony Hunt each won 19 matches to tie for the award for the most wins.

A self-defense class morphed into something more for Riverdale students Emma and Loukas Carter of Kenton. They started taking a self-defense class from David Heaberlin. After seeing the Carters in action, he wondered if they had any interest in moving on to taekwondo.

ADA — Ada handed out special awards to its winter sports athletes Tuesday night. The boys basketball team recognized Grant McBride, Levi Bass, Blake Willeke and Brayden Sautter as captains.

A pair of area girls received mention on the Division IV All-Ohio grls basketball teams released on Tuesday afternoon.

Kenton Athletic Director Mike Leddy gave an upbeat report on the district’s sports programs at Monday’s school board meeting. He said there are 233 student athletes at the high school, with 55 of those playing in multiple sports. There are 123 student athletes at the middle school.
