RIDGEWAY — Ridgemont is sending a pair of freshmen in Sidney Richardson and Meadow Cromer to the Division III regional track and field meet, which begins tonight in Tiffin. In addition to being talented, the Gopher pair has a secret weapon they use before their events.

FINDLAY — Upper Scioto Valley’s Brittany Holbrook won the district track meet in two events as a junior. On Saturday at the Division III meet at Liberty-Benton, she doubled that total, finishing first in the 100- and 200-meter dashes and the long jump to add to her first-place effort in the high jump on Thursday.

Physicals slated for Raider athletes

BELLEFONTAINE — The Benjamin Logan Athletic Boosters are hosting their annual athletic physicals on Wednesday, May 27 for all students needing a physical for athletics for the 2015-2016 school year. These physicals will be conducted at Benjamin Logan High School and the check-in will be in the commons.

The Major League Braves defeated the Indians 18-3 on Thursday. Braves hitters were Brent Rader with a single and two doubles; Jaron Schutte and Cameron Zickafoose with two singles each; Hayden Aldridge with a triple and Brycen Hill hit a single.

Oates clinches state tennis berth

BOWLING GREEN — Kenton senior Dale Oates didn’t play his best tennis Thursday on Day 1 of the Division II Northwest District tournament. But in the end, it didn’t really matter as not his best was still enough for him to win two matches to reach the semifinals and qualify for state.

Area athletes qualify for regional track

FINDLAY — Three area athletes qualified individually and the Riverdale boys and girls 3,200-meter relay teams qualified for next week’s regional track meet on the first day of Division III district track competition at Liberty-Benton on Thursday. Individually, Upper Scioto Valley’s Brittany Holbrook advanced by winning the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 4 inches.

NEW CARLISLE — Heading into a district semifinal against Tippecanoe, the Ben Logan baseball team knew it would need to execute well. A couple miscues and a lack of clutch hitting was all it took Thursday as the Raiders’ suffered a season-ending 1-0 loss.
