USV’s Holbrook ready for final state trip; Sloan set for first

McGUFFEY — Upper Scioto Valley’s Brittany Holbrook and Austin Sloan are on opposite ends of the high school pendulum. Holbrook, a senior, will be trying to put an exclamation point on her high school track career when she competes in three events at the Division III state meet in Columbus on Friday and Saturday.

The Kenton High School boys basketball program will be conducting its youth summer camp for boys entering grades 3-6 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. June 29-July 2 in the KHS gymnasium.

Kenton’s Oates topped at state

COLUMBUS — Dale Oates became the first Kenton boys tennis player to compete at the state tournament on Friday morning. The match didn’t go as hoped though, as Oates fell to Bay Village Bay’s Adam Krueger 6-4, 6-2 in the first round.

BL’s Bowers vaults to state

DAYTON — Davis Bowers is going to Columbus. The Ben Logan senior cleared 14-0 to finish fourth in the pole vault during the first day of competition at the Division II regional track meet in Dayton on Thursday.
