The Trophy Bassmasters took their annual trip to Bellville, Mich., to compete on Belleville Lake which is loaded with smallmouth bass. Although they do not grow to a giant size as in Lake Erie they more than make up for it by being very plentiful.

The second farm Nationals defeated the White Sox 4-1 on Thursday. Nationals hitters were Clara Kemmere with three singles; Austin Ashbrook, Ethan Ashbrook, Carson Brown and Jack Whitmer with two singles each and Maddox Hommel, Billy Jones and Jayden Mustain with singles.

MARION — Kenton’s Britton Hensel had three birdies and shot 67 to win the 16-18 age group Wednesday in the Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association season-opening tournament at Pine Lakes Golf Course south of Marion.

The Trophy Bassmasters tried a new wrinkle in their tournament format with an event scored similar to what is being used in the Major League Fishing series on television.

The first farm Indians defeated the Dodgers 12-9 on Wednesday. Dodger hitters were Kade Smith with a triple, double and single, and Carter Heydinger, Colton Rigsby, Kolton Baker and Jerin Baker with singles.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale girls track and field team handed out special awards at its season-ending banquet this week.

Ada was the only area school to switch divisions as the Ohio High School Athletic Association announced football divisions and playoff regions for the 714 schools competing statewide this fall.

Kenton Midget Football will accept sign-ups during the Kenton Football Camp on Wednesday, June 17 and Friday, June 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Trophy Bassmasters held its third outing of the young season on Grand Lake St. Marys. It was obviously a popular destination as there were boats all over the lake competing in several other tournaments at the same time as Trophy’s derby.
