MARION — For the second match in a row, Kenton won both doubles matches and emerged with a 3-2 girls tennis victory. The Wildcats (2-2) defeated Marion Harding on Tuesday.
Kenton picked up its first win of the season Monday in its Western Buckeye League opener. The Wildcats (1-2) defeated Celina 3-2 in a match that saw its start delayed by approximately an hour due to rain.
CELINA — Kenton had three golfers shoot 40 or lower Monday night to defeat Celina by 23 strokes in its Western Buckeye League opener. The Wildcats beat the host Bulldogs 167-190 at the Fox’s Den golf course.
WAYNESFIELD — Ridgemont shot 411 on Monday in the Waynesfield Invitational at Prairie View Golf Course. The Gophers were led by Devin Mouser, who shot 76.
The Alliance Golf Scramble was held Aug. 14 at Veterans Memorial Park Golf Course in Kenton. This year 28 teams/112 golfers participated splitting cash prizes with individual contests, Nationwide Children’s Championship tickets, merchandise raffles, and many other prizes.
ADA — The Ada girls tennis team defeated Ottawa-Glandorf 4-1 in a non-league tennis match on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs won two of the three singles matches as Mackenzie Wills topped Tiffany Kahle 6-3, 6-3 and Meredith Marshall was a 6-0, 6-1 victor over Kristin Ellerbrock.
LIMA — Ben Logan’s Grant Ricketts shot a 69 to earn medalist honors, but Lima Central Catholic defeated the Raiders 321-353 in an 18-hole dual golf match at Hawthorne Hills Country Club on Saturday afternoon.
LIMA — Lima Temple Christian defeated Ridgemont 176-214 in a golf match at Hidden Creek Golf Course on Friday. Devin Mouser fired a 43 to lead the Gophers. Alex Ramsey added a 55, Zach Jenkins a 56 and Alexis Elliott a 60. Ridgemont plays today in the Waynesfield Tiger Invitational.
Two years ago at the girls tennis district meet, Kenton’s Claire Oates lost a match to Lilly Boice of Ottawa Hills. Last year, Oates was working on getting a measure of revenge.
