Little league: June 29, 2015

The Major League Indians defeated the Braves in tournament play on Sunday 10-9. Jarron Willoby paced the Indians on the mound with four strikeouts, Ace Baum struck out three and Gunnar Stout struck out two.

Swing thoughts: June 29, 2015

Upcoming events at the Memorial Park Golf course include Junior Leagues today at 5 p.m. and the Ladies Invitational Scramble with a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday. For the month of July the course will be busy most weekends starting on the Fourth of July with the flag tournament.

Major League Champs

The Major League Indians captured the Kenton Little League season championship in the final game of the season. The Indians finished with a 7-5 record.

Runners-up

The Mid-State Heat 10U Travel Baseball Team finished its season with a second-place finish last weekend in Battle Creek, Mich. They competed in nine weekend tournaments this season against some of the best competition in Ohio and Michigan.

Hensel grabs 1st in HOJGA event

Kenton High School’s Britton Hensel took top honors in the Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association tournament at Marysville Golf Course on Wednesday. Hensel, competing in the 16-18 division, shot a par-72 (36-36) to pull away from Pleasant’s Griffing McCloy, who was second with a 77 and Elgin’s Lucas Haycook, who fired a 78.

Kicks for Kidneys tourney planned

The Kicks for Kidneys 3 vs. 3 soccer tournament, Matthew’s Mission, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 8 at the Corner Kick Soccer Complex, 13625 Ohio 292, Kenton. There will be divisions for U8, U10, U12, U18 and adult.

Little league: June 25, 2015

The major Indians defeated the Reds 14-6 to extend their winning streak to five games. Pitchers for the Indians were Gunnar Stout with four strikeouts and Jarron Willoby and Ace Baum with three strikeouts each.
