Wildcats win sectional crown

For the second time in four years the Kenton softball team is sectional champions. The Wildcats reached that feat on Friday night by putting three runs on the scoreboard in the third inning and then holding off visiting Ottawa-Glandorf the rest of the way for a 4-2 victory.

Wildcats lose in pitchers’ duel

ST. MARYS — Kenton’s Tristan Reichelderfer and St. Marys’ Nathan Wilker were locked into an old-fashioned pitcher’s duel during Thursday’s sectional baseball final. It was the Wildcats that finally caved as a pair of errors on the same play in the fifth inning led to two St. Marys run as the Roughriders would go on to a 3-0 victory.

Kenton advances two to district tennis

LIMA — With its play on Thursday at a Division II sectional tennis tournament, Kenton guaranteed it will have someone in Saturday’s sectional final. The Wildcats also had two players qualify for districts – Dale Oates and Jake Abbott.

DUNKIRK — Hardin Northern pitcher Addy Bame recovered from a three-run first inning to record 18 strikeouts and help her Polar Bears to a 7-3 Division IV softball sectional final win over Arcadia on Thursday evening.

ARLINGTON — Riverdale’s softball sectional final against Arlington had a little bit of everything Thursday night. There was a home run, a home run that wasn’t, an infield double, five Riverdale errors that led to no runs and a no-hit bid into the sixth inning.

CAREY — Snapping a seven-game losing streak isn’t easy, and neither was Carey’s Division IV softball sectional final against Ada on Thursday. In an ugly game with 10 combined errors, the Blue Devils produced an eight-run second inning and held on for dear life in a 9-7 victory.
