Kenton Middle School volleyball will be holding open gym July 21-31 from 9 to 11 a.m. Aug. 1 is the first day of tryouts.

The Junior Golf League is again going to try to play today at 5 p.m., weather permitting. Listen to WKTN for updates. The course is still planning on getting eight weeks of play in.

Only the best high school players even get to participate at the next level. A dominant high school player may not be dominant in college and that can be a tough pill to swallow at first. For Kenton High School graduate Jackie Stalder, the change took some getting used to. But now it is one she has gladly accepted.

There were 54 people who ran or walked in the 6th Annual Mission Possible 5k in Mount Victory to benefit Mount Victory United Methodist Church Missions including: God's Lifeline and the Youth Scholarship Fund.

BELLEFONTAINE — There will be an OHSAA-sponsored class for new football officials starting Aug. 5. The class will be held Mondays and Wednesdays throughout August from 5-8 p.m. in the seminar room at the Ohio Hi Point JVS in Bellefontaine.

CALEDONIA — The Ohio Coyotes travel baseball team will be holding two tryouts for the 2016 14U season. Players must attend one of the dates, but are welcome to attend both.

WAPAKONETA — The Kenton StingRays placed sixth out of eight teams over the weekend at the 33rd Annual Elks #54 WOAL summer swim championships. Wapakoneta won the meet.

MOUNT GILEAD — Kenton’s Britton Hensel tied for third Tuesday in a rain-shortened Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association event at Pine Lakes. Hensel shot four-over par 40 to tie for third in the nine-hole event. Hensel was one of only two players in the 16-18 division to record a birdie.
