Ben Logan dominant in district tune-up

SPRINGFIELD — Ben Logan scored five runs in the first inning and crossed home plate six more times in the second frame on the way to a 14-1 rout of Springfield Northeastern in a non-conference baseball game on Tuesday afternoon.

The first farm Indians beat the Dodgers 18-3 on Monday. For the Indians, Mitchell Stevens hit a home run and had a single; Kyle Thrush hit a grand slam and a double; Alex Furr hit a home run and a single; Sean Kuhlman and Brendon Hooe both had doubles and Tim Wilkinson hit a home run and a triple.

Kenton’s Oates wins sectional title

LIMA — After a tough start Saturday in a Division II sectional singles championship match, Kenton senior Dale Oates rebounded to win 10 of the final 14 games and capture the sectional title with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory over Spencer Collins of Lima Central Catholic.

USV’s Holbrook wins four NWCC events

WAYNESFIELD — Brittany Holbrook capped her Northwest Central Conference track career with first-place efforts in four events, including a league record time in the 200-meter dash, to lead the Lady Rams to a second place finish in the team standings at the NWCC league meet on Saturday.
