DAYTON — Grant Ricketts shot a 74 to earn medalist honors as the Benjamin Logan boys golf team won the Mad River Division of the CBC preseason tournament held at Kittyhawk Golf Course.

ADA — It hasn’t been smooth sailing for Aaron Weyer as a football player at Ashland University. But the Ada graduate said all the struggles and setbacks have been worth it. Weyer – who is getting ready to enter his redshirt senior season – missed nearly two full years due to injury and didn’t see a ton of playing time the other two seasons.

FOSTORIA — Kenton placed fifth out of 11 teams Thursday in its season-opening golf competition at the Liberty-Benton Invitational. The Wildcats shot a team score of 347 during the invitational at Fostoria Country Club.

LIMA — Devin Mouser led Ridgemont on Thursday in its golf season opener at Hawthorne Hills Golf Course, Lima. Mouser shot 72, which tied him for second among 90 golfers.

The Trophy Bassmasters went to the familiar waters of Indian Lake for their ninth club tournament of the season and the results were predictable. There were 10 anglers who took to the lake for the nine-hour day and seven of them brought back just 20 keeper bass of at least 12 inches.

CANTON – Ohio Northern was selected to finish third in the media poll and fourth in the coaches poll at the 2015 Ohio Athletic Conference Football Media Day on Tuesday afternoon at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. ONU received 195 points in the media poll to finish third and 58 points in the coaches poll to finish fourth.
