Despite setbacks, college football worth it for Weyer

ADA — It hasn’t been smooth sailing for Aaron Weyer as a football player at Ashland University. But the Ada graduate said all the struggles and setbacks have been worth it. Weyer – who is getting ready to enter his redshirt senior season – missed nearly two full years due to injury and didn’t see a ton of playing time the other two seasons.

Kenton Little League's 9-10 baseball team win the 1st Annual Kenton 10U Summer Slam Baseball Tournament. Kenton beat West Liberty and Frederickstown. Then it topped Richwood Belly Acre's in the title game 6-4 to win the tournament. 

KHS golf grabs 5th

FOSTORIA — Kenton placed fifth out of 11 teams Thursday in its season-opening golf competition at the Liberty-Benton Invitational. The Wildcats shot a team score of 347 during the invitational at Fostoria Country Club.

The Trophy Bassmasters went to the familiar waters of Indian Lake for their ninth club tournament of the season and the results were predictable. There were 10 anglers who took to the lake for the nine-hour day and seven of them brought back just 20 keeper bass of at least 12 inches.

Media picks ONU to finish 3rd in OAC

CANTON – Ohio Northern was selected to finish third in the media poll and fourth in the coaches poll at the 2015 Ohio Athletic Conference Football Media Day on Tuesday afternoon at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. ONU received 195 points in the media poll to finish third and 58 points in the coaches poll to finish fourth.

Dilbone, Stamon win Rushsylvania Rockets 5K

RUSHSYLVANIA — The 11th annual Rushsylvania Rockets 5K saw Amy Stamon and Chris Dilbone take the top spots in the women's and men's divisions, respectively, Saturday. Stamon was the top female finisher with a time of 23:25, while Dilbone was the top male runner in a time of 19:16.
