Riverdale has big day on diamond

UPPER SANDUSKY — Down to its last strike in the top of the seventh inning, the Riverdale baseball team was in danger of falling below .500 again this year. Evan McKee came through, though, with a single up the middle to push the Falcons to a 7-6 non-conference victory against Upper Sandusky on Saturday morning.

Bulldogs sweep Van Buren

VAN BUREN — Ada swept Van Buren in a nonconference softball doubleheader Saturday, winning 9-2 and 6-3. Teyah Sautter led the way for the Bulldogs in Game 1.

Raiders split pair

BELLEFONTAINE — Ben Logan split a pair of baseball games Saturday, defeating Botkins 15-0 in five innings and falling to Riverside 7-2. The Raiders were dominant against Botkins, scoring five runs in the first inning and 10 in the second.

BL, KHS at relays

BELLEFONTAINE — Ben Logan was sixth and Kenton was eighth Friday on the girls side of the Chieftain Relays. Ben Logan was led by three first-place finishes.

Kenton’s Jenna Rodenberger (10) slaps hands with Alivia Purtee after scoring the put the Wildcats ahead 5-0 in the third inning of Game 1 of a doubleheader against Bellefontaine on Saturday. Kenton won 5-1 and 10-2 to grab the sweep.

Swing thoughts: April 18, 2016

This week was a busy one at the Memorial Park Golf Course with the Monday and Wednesday morning scramble teams seeing some play and the Friday Spring League getting in their second night of play. After two weeks the standings for the Spring League are as followings: still in first place with 10 under par are the team of Reggie Sampson, Billy Cozad, Clint Stuck and Amber McElroy.
