Randy George, of Forest, holds some of the Golden Morel mushrooms he gathered during a recent hunt in the Forest area. George said he was able to harvest nearly 10 pounds of the rare mushrooms and said this year has been the best results he has experienced in 25 years of searching.

The Kenton Lions Club met Wednesday, May 4 at Henry’s Restaurant at 6:30 p.m. There were 18 members and five guests in attendance.

Hardin County Family YMCA held an Earth Day Celebration for the children of Silly and Super Saturday on April 23. A total of 18 children took part in a variety of Earth Day activities.

A large section of the former Ridgemont High School building in Ridgeway was demolished on Monday. A portion of the building, including the commons area and gymnasium will be spared from the razing and used by the district.

Kenton High School senior Beth Oldham talks with Aaron Johnson as she prepares to go to work at the Iron Fit Gym in Kenton. Oldham is part of the Wildcat Kommunity Konnectors organization which matches KHS students with local mentors to give them an advantage as they pursue a career.

Amy Lynn McPheron and Tobey John Steinman are announcing their engagement and upcoming marriage. Amy is the daughter of David and Brenda McPheron of Kenton.

Members of the Forest-Jackson Co-ops 4-H Club helped with Jackson Township road cleanup day on April 23. Participating were Hannah Messmer, Damion Messmer, Colten Perkins, Landon Holland, Caiden Schutz, Danielle Little, Martin Little, Grace Wetherill, Gage Perkins and Daniell Searfoss.

While there were six new inductees into the Hardin County Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday night and they said they could not have had the success they did in athletics if it had not been for those who supported them. Inducted were Helen Spar Ludwig, LeAnna Hicks-Ford, Gary Lowe, Steve Kick, Mark Ehlen and Gale Daugherty.

MOUNT VICTORY — As Ridgemont’s K-12 principal of student life and athletic director, Jill Stover is able to help students both on an academic and athletic level. Stover is in her second year as principal – the first at the K-12 level – and her fourth year as athletic director.

LIMA — It was a tough opening day of the Western Buckeye League tennis tournament for Kenton on Friday. The Wildcats won only one of eight matches in which they competed.
