DOLA — Hardin Northern recently held its spring sports awards banquet and handed out special awards to some of its athletes.

ADA — Lorna Spar spent her previous summer breaks from Cleveland State University working in food service at Cedar Point in Sandusky. This year, she wanted to be a little closer to home.

COLUMBUS — For the second year in a row, Riverdale’s Carrol Pauley is an All-Ohioan in Division III in the discus with a fourth-place finish Friday in the state meet at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Pauley also placed fourth last year as a sophomore, and though she did not move higher up on the podium, her improvement was evidenced by a top throw of 139-2 that was more than 8 feet better than her best recorded distance last year.

The Kenton Lions Club met Wednesday, June 1 at Henry’s Restaurant at 6:30 p.m. with 15 members and one guest in attendance. Lion President Dean Tackett led in the Pledge of Allegiance and the prayer and the meeting was called to order after the meal at 7 p.m.

Kenton’s newest restaurant offers its customers quality, healthy meals at a price affordable to everyone. Most of the food is produced locally and patrons pay what they can afford.

DOLA — For Hardin Northern junior Nicholas Bame making it back to the Division III state track and field meet was the biggest goal; whatever happens next is a bonus. Bame already has a state medal from placing seventh in the 1,600-meter run last year and he has a chance to get two more Saturday, but that’s not what is driving him.

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office recently completed its 2016 Citizens Sheriff's Academy. Sheriff Keith Everhart said the Academy aims to provide a working knowledge and background of the office and its operation; and is intended to create an atmosphere of openness and cooperation between the citizens of Hardin County and their sheriff's office.
