New neurologist joins HMH staff

Welcomed to HMH

Hardin Memorial Hospital recently held a meet and greet for their associates and medical staff to welcome new neurologist, Sumaiya Salim, MD. Dr. Salim will be seeing patients in the Hardin Memorial Hospital Specialty Center the third Wednesday of every month. Her areas of expertise include epilepsy/seizures, stroke, neuropathy and electroencephalography (EEG).

On July 16th and 17th, the Hardin Northern FFA Officer Team embarked on their officer retreat to Maumee Bay State Park. Officers attending included President Lance Good, Vice President Renee Newton, Treasurer Luke Wilson, Secretary Mara Ruhlen, Reporter Brenna Flowers, Sentinel Aliya Obenour, and Student Advisor Maddie Grappy.

Bagworms can be serious problem in town, on farm

The continuous rain this spring may have caused us to forget that insects are still active. Often these insects may be controlled if insecticides are applied at the correct time. One of these insects that is past that critical time for chemical control are bagworms as standard insecticides are no longer effective by late summer. Late instar bagworms can detect insecticide toxicants causing them to hasten pupation, but they do not die. However, they do stop feeding which leads to the perception they were killed.
