ADA — With the school’s accreditation now in the rearview mirror, Ada Superintendent Dr. Suzanne Darmer reiterated some of the report’s suggested improvements for the school. Darmer reported to school board members Thursday night at their monthly meeting, informing them that while the school received accreditation status, it was important to remember there were suggestions that came along with the report.

Twenty-seven Kenton High School juniors were inducted into the Simon Kenton Chapter of the National Honor Society during a ceremony Thursday night.

RIDGEWAY — The Ridgemont cafeteria staff will be learning “a new way of cooking” to serve students in the new K-12 building that will open in August.

Winners of the fifth annual Child Abuse Prevention Month poster concert will be announced next week in Kenton. An art presentation and an awards ceremony will be held at the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office Community Room, 1025 S. Main St., Kenton, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 26.

Memorial Day will be observed on May 25 this year. There will be an initial meeting on April 1 to select the General Committee for the Memorial Day Parade.

Work continues on the construction of the new sanitary sewer plant in Ada. Construction on the $15 million facility began in November and it is expected to take two years to complete.

An Ada woman was sent to prison for two years after pleading guilty to a charge of trafficking in heroin in a case heard in Hardin County Common Pleas Court. According to court records from Prosecutor Brad Bailey’s office, Angela Nicole Cheek, 330 Grandview Ave., Ada, was also fined $5,000 by Judge Scott Barrett for the offense.
