Kenton city workers lower a replacement water line into place to replace the old 8-inch metal pipe that ruptured Thursday morning at the corner of Franklin and Main streets in the downtown.

Hardin County residents are invited to dispose of their outdated or unused prescription drugs, as well as over-the-counter medicine at Saturday’s Drug Takeback Day. Set for 9 a.m. to noon, drop-off sites will be located in Kenton and Ada.

In 2002, the library boards throughout Hardin County adopted a formula for dividing the state funding the county receives. Six of the libraries (which includes Belle Center) are happy with the way that formula is working. One library board feels the formula has been flawed from its conception and wants it changed.

MOUNT VICTORY — Some residents of Mount Victory will experience a temporary water shut-off while the switch is made from the existing line to the new water line. Andy Clarridge from Page Engineering attended Thursday’s Mount Victory Council meeting to give council members an update on various projects around the village.

The Kenton-Hardin Health Department is ordering all restaurants within the city of Kenton to close until further notice as a result of the water main break. The health department is advising all citizens of Kenton to use bottled/gallon water to use for sanitation and cooking purposes in the home until further notice. DUNKIRK — A block watch meeting is set for 6 p.m. Sunday at the Hardin Northern Community Center in Dunkirk.

The first day of the trial of Andrew Worthington was memorable for at least two reasons. A bench warrant was issued for the arrest of the alleged victim of the kidnapping which took place Sept. 2, 2014.
