The right to bear arms is an constitutionally protected individual right! As I was reading Dan Robinsons report of a speech given by Professor Paul Finkelman at Ohio Northern University entitled "Did James Madison really think you should own an AR-15 a bump stock or an assault rifle? The original meaning of the Second Amendment."

I have never in 80 years written to the editor about anything or anybody until now. Today I feel compelled to give you my thoughts on one of the candidates for representative of the 83rd District here in Ohio – Jon Cross.

On May 8th, Republicans will go to the polls to choose their nominee for the 83rd House District, with early voting beginning on April 10th. When it comes time to vote, however you cast your ballot, I urge my fellow Republicans to choose Cheryl Buckland as our nominee for the 83rd House District.

Are you a registered voter in Ohio? If not, now is the time when the mere act of registering to vote becomes of utmost importance, and the deadline to register is coming you quick – April 9th!

When the people you associate with and your words don’t match your actions, it is time for caution. The Cheryl Buckland campaign for 83rd district seat demonstrates this point.

I would like to reach out to the voters of the 83rd Ohio House District and ask them to support Jon Cross for State Representative. Jon is supportive of the small business owners having fewer regulations so that small businesses can thrive in our communities.

I have been reading recently of the solutions proposed by the Kenton City School system and most recently that being looked at by Hardin Northern to provide security against a potential school shooter. Both relate to hiring a certified police officer as a school resource officer at a cost to the school system of about $52,000 per year per officer.

I am writing today to voice my support for Jon Cross as our next State Representative of The Ohio House 83rd District. Jon invests the time to understand the issues in all the communities in our district.

All Ohioans should know about a power grab in Ohio. Representative Bill Reineke of Tiffin representing Sandusky and Seneca counties has introduced legislation (HB 512) to consolidate 3 education departments to be combined into a new Department of Learning and Achievement according to the March 14, Courier Q & A.

Early voting for the May 8 primary begins April 10. I believe the 83rd District needs a mature, experienced state representative who understands the desires and problems of their constituents. That is why Cheryl Buckland has my vote.
