I was excited to read in the July 11 Times about the work being done to save the historic Surplus Building in downtown Kenton. Lately it had been not just an eyesore but a danger to the public.
To the editor: I feel an obligation to respond to the Kenton Times front page story on June 14 about The Health Department advising getting a “jump” on immunizations. I’ve done much soul-searching deciding whether or not to write and submit this letter. It would have been much easier to stay silent. I felt a bit of nudge after reading Dr. Forester’s excellent column in the next day’s Kenton Times.
Seventy-five years ago, nine heroic Hardin County men lost their lives fighting the Japanese in the Battle of Munda in the Solomon Islands. The impact on the families of those men – indeed the impact on the entire community – was severe.
Summer is here and so is the time for Red Cross Swimming Lessons! As in past years the Ada Learn To Swim Program is in need of aides to assist with the lessons. Ages 12 and up, including adults are encouraged to sign up to help others learn swimming skills.
To all Hardin County residents, I sincerely apologize for our 2018 Memorial Day Parade. While participating in the parade with other Vietnam veterans, it was obvious there was not a lack of participation, but a lack of organization and respect of our deceased veterans.

To the editor: On May 28, 2018 at approximately 11:30 a.m. the William Britton VFW Post 6817 and Auxiliary will be at Hale Cemetery located outside of Mt. Victory presenting our Memorial Day Service for the veterans interred there.

It is amazing to see the vicious attacks perpetrated on the true, new conservative candidates by the establishment conservatives, through the so called Conservative Alliance PAC. They are pouring thousands of dollars into these untrue advertisements because they do not want to lose control, money and power to someone who would actually represent the people.
