As a Mental Health First Aid Instructor, I recently had the pleasure of teaching staff at Upper Scioto Valley Schools. This is a 3-year certification course that teaches participants how to provide assistance to someone facing a mental health problem or crisis.
Student development beyond the classroom experience is a priority at USV. The 2018/2019 school year has brought a number of growth-based opportunities for PK - 12th grade students at Upper Scioto Valley. Multiple initiatives centered on educating the whole student have been implemented as a means to expose students to the transferable skills needed to help meet the challenges facing young people today.

Since 1914, Ohio State University has been helping Ohioans build better lives, businesses, and communities through county extension offices.
The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Allen, Auglaize and Hardin Counties firmly believes that non-violent individuals with a substance use disorder are better served through treatment instead of incarceration. This is particularly true for marginalized populations who are over represented in Ohio’s prisons and often go unserved.
