FOREST — The Forest-Wharton Food Pantry will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, March 23 at the Forest United Methodist Church, 111 E. Dixon St.

Officers were dispatched to 431 E. Columbus St. for a report of an unruly juvenile. Shortly after arrival, a juvenile male was detained and later released into the custody of another family member.

MOUNT VICTORY — There has been a series of detours, but David Wagner is home. Wagner was recently named the first chef at the Plaza Inn Restaurant in Mount Victory. It is the end of a journey which took him to other jobs and finally to Italy before he came back to the kitchen he knew as a child.

Kenton City Schools board member Tom Brim would like the district to consider setting aside money for an earlier pay-off on the bond issue for the Kenton Elementary School. Brim would like to put excess funds into a capital improvements fund for that purpose.

A calendar which calls for an earlier start to the 2015-2016 school school, along with being off for the Hardin County Fair, is the favorite among most staff members at Kenton City Schools. The calendar options were announced at Monday’s Kenton Board of Education meeting, with the board to vote on its choice at its April 20 session.

Kenton Athletic Director Mike Leddy gave an upbeat report on the district’s sports programs at Monday’s school board meeting. He said there are 233 student athletes at the high school, with 55 of those playing in multiple sports. There are 123 student athletes at the middle school.

DOLA — The Hardin Northern school board will be looking for a new leader for the district. The board accepted the retirement resignation of Superintendent Doug Roberts, effective July 31, during its regular meeting on Monday night.
