The Kenton Police Department is moving forward with a plan to enable its officers to carry and use a heroin overdose antidote. Chief John Vermillion told City Council on Monday night he is working with Hardin Memorial Hospital on establishing a policy and training for officers to administer Naloxone, a drug which reverses the effects of opiods

A vacant Kenton business will get a new life with the support of Kenton City Council. Council, at its meeting Monday night, agreed to an unusual transfer of a liquor permit which will allow Steven Burggraf to renovate and reopen the former Party Shop at 403 S. Main Street.

McGUFFEY — Beginning April 1, the village of McGuffey will be without a mayor. Gary Conley had announced in February he would be retiring as village leader after this month after 15 years in the job and another eight years on council. He cited health concerns for his decision.

A Nashville recording artist and songwriter and his band have been selected to be the Friday night entertainment during the 2015 Hardin County Fair. Kevin Mabry and his band Liberty Street was approved by the Hardin County Agricultural Society at its meeting Saturday, March 7.

Last month, break-ins were reported at 15 dog shelters throughout Ohio, including Hardin County. Over the weekend, officers from the Hardin County Crime Task Force took part in a raid in Mount Gilead which resulted in at least one arrest as well recovery of the dog stolen from the local shelter.

Despite growing up the son of a pastor, Dave Dooley never imagined he’d follow in his father’s footsteps. “I didn’t have negative feelings or issues with it, I just never dreamed that’s what I’d be,” he said. Years down the line, however, Dooley started on the path to becoming a pastor and has been serving the Kenton Church of the Nazarene for seven years now.
