ADA — The efforts of Ada employees to locate and repair a water leak in the early morning hours last Thursday were praised at Tuesday’s village council meeting. “Everybody really performed their job really professionally. They worked as a team,” said Administrator Jamie Hall in recounting the incident.
BELLEFONTAINE — As the Benjamin Logan Board of Education meeting opened to a packed room Monday evening, members heard presentations from students working to address drug abuse and teen suicide issues in the district.
Kenton City Schools is expecting less money from the state over the next two years as lawmakers continue working on the budget. Treasurer Tracy Hiller reported at Monday’s school board meeting that based on a House proposal, Kenton would receive $156,138 less next year and $114,000 less in 2019.
Most Kenton City Schools' administrators received new contracts with pay raises at Monday night's board of education meeting. The raises in the first year of the contracts generally were 3 percent, but slightly higher for associate and assistant principals to make their salaries more competitive, said Superintendent Jennifer Penczarski.
McGUFFEY — Upper Scioto Valley has replaced and fixed numerous portions of its roof in the past couple years. The middle school gymnasium/auditeria roof is next on the list of areas to be replaced.
Stormie L. A. Roark, Bellefontaine, reported that she currently has a civil protection order against a named suspect. On Sunday morning, the suspect sent numerous messages to Roark’s cell phone, believing he was having a conversation with her.
The Hardin County Engineer’s Department announced it will reopen Dudley Township Road 235 between County Roads 219 and 227. It is now closing Dudley Township Road 146 to through traffic between County Road 265 and Township Road 199 for two weeks for road work.
DUNKIRK — With the amount of risk involved in cleaning certain “nasty” nuisance properties, Dunkirk Village Superintendent Paul Cramer believes he and his fellow employees deserve more for the undertaking. Cramer brought up the issue during his report at the regular council meeting on Monday evening.
