FOREST — While facing another year of deficit spending, the Forest council is considering compensating the volunteers in their fire department. “We have one of the top volunteer fire departments around,” said councilman Denis Phillips, “but we are having a hard time with recruiting and retaining members.

The Kenton Elks Lodge honored the Teenagers of the Month from each of the six county school districts at a luncheon at the lodge on Thursday.

Officers were called to 213 S. Market St. in reference to an injured male. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the reported victim, Casey L. Stephens, 508 W. North St., who advised he was assaulted by a named suspect.

MOUNT VICTORY — Bids are now being accepted for Mount Victory’s farm land located north of the village. The 79-acre area is bid out by the village to farmers interested in using the land. The current lease is for $147 per acre for two years and expires at the end of this month.

An Ada man was found guilty by a jury of drug charges and recently sentenced to a term in prison in Hardin County Common Pleas Court.
