FOREST — Last month’s concern with the placing of speed bumps in streets near Gormley Park in Forest resulted in four new bumps being approved by council on Thursday night. In May, former Village Administrator Charles Brunkhart, who lives near the park, asked council to remove the bumps and replace them with another stop sign to slow traffic in the area where children play.
MOUNT VICTORY — The Mount Victory Village Council is trying to find a way to replace the softeners at the village’s water plant over the next five years. During its meeting on Thursday night, council approved a response to a letter it received from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency notifying the village of violations for not installing new water softeners during Phase I of its Water System Improvement Project in 2014 and 2015.
Monthly recycling services hosted by Blanchard Township/Dunkirk and Mount Victory/Hale Township are set for Tuesday, June 13 and Thursday, June 22. The Blanchard Township/Dunkirk recycling will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in Dunkirk in the parking lot of the former Price Funeral Home.

TOLEDO — For ten Hardin County veterans, Wednesday was a day they will not soon forget. As a part of the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., they were treated like kings.
DOLA — The Hardin Northern Board of Education is moving forward with plans to construct an athletic complex north of the school. The board, at a special meeting Wednesday night, approved a resolution to advertise for bids for Phase I of the project which includes the construction of a softball field as well as renovation of the current baseball facilities and construction of a gravel parking lot between the two.
