ADA — Councilman Jeff Oestreich was selected to continue his role as president of the Ada Village Council during its reorganizational meeting Tuesday evening. Meetings will continue to be held at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of the month in council chambers.

FINDLAY — Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Matthew R. Cook has been selected the 2016 Trooper of the Year at the Findlay post. The selection of Cook, 30, is in recognition of outstanding service during 2016 at the post.

RIDGEWAY — Koty McKee had always dreamed of doing something hunting-related for his career, he just never imagined it would happen for him at such a young age. McKee, 21, is the owner Koty McKee’s Wildlife Creations and Hunting Supplies, located at 16770 CR 240 in Ridgeway.

In February former Hardin County dog warden Steve Davis opened fire on two Kenton Police Department officers and two deputies in a shootout which resulted in him being killed by one of the deputies. That incident was selected by the Times staff as Hardin County’s top news story for 2016.

Ryan Lee Schmitmeyer, Celina – speeding 50 mph in a 35 mph zone, fined $25. Rachel Esther Garnett, Lima – speeding 68 mph in a 55 mph zone, fined $25.

The Hardin County Agricultural Society met Wednesday, Dec. 28 at the Plaza Inn Restaurant in Mt. Victory for its holiday meeting. Eighteen directors were present and 35 guests were present.
