The Hardin County Farm Bureau hosted over 60 people and 26 ATVs throughout this year’s 2nd Annual ATV Tour, held on Saturday, Sept. 24.

During the month of August, Extension volunteer rainfall reporters received an average of 5.22 inches of rain. The most rain for this month, 8.00 inches, fell in Hale Township as measured by Travis Ramsey.

The Hardin County Carcass Show of Champions was held Thursday, Sept. 15 at Mt. Victory Meats. A group of adults and young people were on hand to hear judge and OSU Assistant Professor of Meat Science Lyda Garcia discuss the merits of the winning animal carcasses from the 2016 Hardin County Fair.

RIDGEWAY — Meadow, Callie and Jon Cromer have been missing several days of school this week. They haven’t been sick. They are working on the family farm south of Ridgeway. But they are not milking the herd of dairy cows, cleaning out barns or doing their normal chores.

During the months of August and September, various Ben Logan FFA students have engaged in activities and poster making to learn the proper way to handle, check, and manage a tractor. Students were taught the possible risk factors and the many ways an injury can occur.

The Farm Science Review is Sept. 20-22 this year and will offer farmers and other visitors to the annual farm show the opportunity to learn the latest agricultural innovations from experts from the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University.

MARYSVILLE — A Beef Industry Update meeting provided by the Ohio Cattlemen’s Association (OCA) will take place in Hardin County later this month. The meeting will be held Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Rolling Hills Farms Show and Sale Facility, 17838 CR 67 Belle Center.

DOLA — For John Marshall and Emily Overs, Hardin Northern’s new agri-science teachers and FFA advisors, the job is a way for them to give back and provide students with the same opportunities they had growing up.

Delaney Althauser of Kenton, a member of the Kenton-OHP FFA Chapter, was one of many FFA members who converged on the nation's capital this summer to analyze their personal skills and interests, develop leadership skills and create a meaningful community service plan that will make a difference in their home communities.
