Lima Symphony to present opening concert

LIMA — The Lima Symphony Orchestra will open its season with “Ethereal Connections” on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center. Gustav Holst’s compelling and iconic piece The Planets will be accompanied by stunning visual images of our Solar System courtesy of NASA and artfully designed by Adrian Wyard.

Kite Runner at Palace

MARION — The New York Times bestseller and international classic, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, will be brought to life on stage at the historic Marion Palace Theatre on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. The professional theatre company, Literature to Life, a program of Young Audiences New York, presents a stunning solo performance by Sorab Wadia.

‘Messiah’ rehearsals to begin Oct. 2 at Bluffton U.

BLUFFTON —Rehearsals for Bluffton University’s 122nd performance of Handel’s “Messiah” will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. Mondays beginning Oct. 2, in the Gilliom Room of Mosiman Hall on campus. Anyone interested in singing, from high school students to adults, is invited to join the chorus, which typically ranges from 70-90 members, including Bluffton students, faculty, staff and community members.

Jazz recital series at ONU to begin

ADA – The Parker Presents jazz group will perform at 8 p.m. on Sept. 28 in Presser Hall’s Snyder Recital Hall at Ohio Northern University. It is free and open to the public. The group consists of Gene Parker on saxophone, Ray Parker on bass, Harry Allen on tenor sax, Tad Weed on piano and George Schuller on drums.
