In the twenty-eighth chapter of the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus concludes his Great Commission with the following words: “And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’’ Each of three women from a support group speakers’ bureau gave a five-minute presentation at one of the churches I served.

The Lima Chapter of Aglow International will be holding its monthly morning meeting on Thursday, Aug. 11 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Fellowship Hall of Church of the Good Shepherd, 224 Elm St., Columbus Grove. The guest speaker will be Cathy Shock who travels across the USA with easel and a blank canvas sharing at conferences.

In his book David and Goliath, Malcolm Gladwell breaks down the classic story of underdogs. Gladwell argues that perhaps what we think of as disadvantages are really advantages, and vice versa.

The Epworth United Methodist Church in Kenton will be holding an outdoor worship service and covered dish dinner this Sunday beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Boy Scout Lake under the shelterhouse. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish to share and their own table service.

FOREST — An appreciation/retirement lunch in honor of Pastor Denny Livingston is planned for Aug. 7 at 12:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the Forest United Methodist Church. Area residents are invited to come and help celebrate Denny’s 25 years of ministry. Nine of those years was spent at Forest and the other years in local churches.

BYHALIA — Byhalia Friends Church will present Cave Quest Vacation Bible School on Aug. 1-4. A light supper will be served at 6 p.m. each day, with fun and games and learning to follow Jesus from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The VBS is open to children in preschool through the sixth grade.

As soon as Rev. Tomas Pistora came to Kenton’s Trinity United Presbyterian Church in 2003, he knew he’d joined a community that embraces everyone. Pistora was asked by Trinity to be its pastor while he was working for a presbytery in Toledo. Because he is originally from the Czech Republic and not Ohio, it signaled to him that the church was a welcoming one.

The Grant United Methodist Church, located on Ohio 53 north of Kenton, will hold its annual Family Fun Day on Sunday, July 31. It will begin 10:30 a.m. with the worship service featuring special musical guest, the Broken Ground Praise Band.

Kenton Full Gospel Church is thinking about Christmas in July. An annual Christmas party in December will be held to give away toys and bikes to community children.
