Some people say that being a Christian is demanding or difficult. So many rules to follow in trying to be a good person, to make one acceptable to God.

LIMA —Trinity Music Ministries will perform a benefit concert for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Aug. 17 at Shawnee Alliance Church, 4455 Shawnee Road, Lima. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the concert will start at 7 p.m.

HARROD — Music in the Park is set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 30 at Westminster Park, 6825 Faulkner Road, Harrod. Featured performers will be Christ August, Three Bridges, Brad Brown Magic, Scott Stimmel and Arnold Coy.

The Ridgemont Unity Community Vacation Bible School will be held for three days, July 26-28, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Ridgemont School. The VBS, for children ages 4 to 12, is sponsored by Mount Victory Church of Christ and United Methodist Church, and the Ridgeway Church of God and United Methodist Church.

Kenton Full Gospel Church, located at 129 N. Wayne St. in Kenton, will be hosting a free clothing day on Tuesday, July 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As I sat thinking about what to write about for the “Word for the Day” article, I couldn’t help notice the rain falling and the field across from my house looked more like a lake than a field of soy beans. This got me thinking about the Bible story about Noah.

Latter Rain Quartet will be in concert on Sunday, July 16 at the First Brethren Church in Williamstown. The service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Latter Rain sings a mixture of Southern Gospel and traditional hymns of faith.

Zap! Pow! Yay! Come join all the superheroes and discover the true hero at Central Church of Christ in Kenton during Vacation Bible School. Vacation Bible School, for all children age 4-12, will be held on July 17-21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church, located at 815 E. Columbus St.

The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation invites area singers to join the 2017 Assumption Choir. This choir, along with a brass quintet, will lead the music for 10,000-plus people attending the Vigil Mass of the Assumption, in the Shrine Park, on Monday, Aug. 14 at 9:30 p.m.

Kenton Full Gospel Church, located at 129 N. Wayne St., will be hosting a night of gospel singing featuring One Voice and Chris Horne at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 16.
