Chapter 32 of the Blue Star Mothers visited Consulate Health Care’s Kenton Nursing and Rehab Center recently to recognize their veterans.
Residents at Hardin Hills Health and Rehab Center in Kenton enjoyed a St. Patrick’s Day party in the dinning room.
A noon meal is served for people ages 60 and older at the Hardin County Council on Aging in Kenton, 419-673-1102, at 11:30 a.m. weekdays.
Some residents at Hardin Hills Health and Rehab were feeling a bit lucky at craft time, painting terra-cotta pots black and green. They made pots of gold with chocolate gold coins and green pots were hats.

DUNKIRK — For most of his 90 years, Mack Newman has been a musician. He worked at various factory jobs during the day, but most evenings and weekends would find him playing guitar, saxophone or harmonica for a crowd of diners at an area restaurant or bar.
Lester Johns doesn’t seem to need anyone to watch over him. The 94-year-old veteran of World War II tills his own garden each spring and mows a large lawn. He jumps into his truck routinely and shops after taking part in the activities at the senior center. But with nine decades under his belt and a daughter who lives in Morral, it is no doubt a comfort to know someone back home is watching Lester.
BLUFFTON — Bluffton University’s Institute for Learning in Retirement (ILR), an educational program for retirees, is offering 10 courses on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays this spring, beginning March 23.
