There’s an old hymn that’s been in the hymnals of the three denominations I’ve experienced the most. “Jesus Calls us; o’er the Tumult” was written sometime between 1823 and 1895 by Cecil Alexander.

Jim Bloomfield of Bucyrus will sing at Kenton Full Gospel Church on Sunday, Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. The church, 129 N. Wayne St., has a Gospel Sing the third Sunday of each month and the public is invited.

Kenton Full Gospel Church is having a church picnic and auction on Saturday, Aug. 12 in the shelterhouse at the Hardin County Fairgrounds.

Grant United Methodist Church, located at 7484 Ohio 53, will hold its annual Family Fun Day on Sunday, Aug. 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

St. John's Evangelical Church in Kenton will be hosting its annual Vacation Bible School next week, Monday, Aug. 7 to Friday, Aug. 11. During this time kids will learn that Jesus knows them, loves them, treasures them and has time for them.

The McGuffey Church of Christ will be hosting a Block Party from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5. The event will feature performances from Whitaker Bros. and B List Boys.

Blessing of the Farmer will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5 at Silver Creek United Methodist Church. Join the church in a day of blessing farmers and equipment, food – including a hog roast – and various speakers.
