Entertainment activities for the 2018 Hardin County Fair are taking shape, it was reported at Saturday’s meeting of the Hardin County Agricultural Society. Brad Murphy, representing the entertainment committee, highlighted free entertainment planned for the fair.

The Hardin County Agricultural Society met Thursday, Dec. 21 at the Plaza Inn in Mount Victory for their January board meeting and holiday dinner. Nineteen directors and 30 guests were present. Craig Stump, president, called the meeting to order.

Two new board members were approved at the Hardin County Agricultural Society meeting on Saturday night. Dale Cockerell was the top vote-getter for the Director at Large vacancy in a paper ballot vote by current directors.

Election of fair board directors was announced at the Hardin County Agricultural Society’s reorganizational meeting on Saturday, Nov. 4. Howard Lyle, acting president, reported the election results:

The Hardin County Agricultural Society had its monthly meeeting Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Hardin County Fairgrounds. Eighteen directors were present along with 22 guests. Craig Stump, vice president, called the meeting to order.

The Hardin County Council on Aging, Inc. has named the winners of the grand prizes given away at its fair booth this year. The senior winner was Harry Dickson.

The Hardin County Agricultural Society agreed to create a History Committee at its monthly meeting Saturday, Oct. 7. Bob McBride requested formation of the committee which will include the fair board president, secretary/treasurer, a Junior Fair Board representative and two board members.

Few businesses who offer their products at the Hardin County Fair have become more of a family tradition than the waffles stand on the midway. Three generations of the Buerger family have used their vacations and weekends to keep the customers satisfied with their product.

Estimated attendance for the Hardin County Fair was 56,415, according to figures released by Judi Cronley, secretary/treasurer. That is an increase of more than 2,000 from last year’s estimate of 54,376.
