Steer show tops tonight’s fair slate

The Junior Fair Steer Show highlights activities tonight at the fair. It begins at 7 p.m. in the Show Arena.

It was another hot day Wednesday and the total crowd was estimated at 4,922 with a paid gate of 879.

That is up from a rainy Wednesday a year ago, when total attendance was pegged at 4,262 with a paid gate of 761.

Thursday, Sept. 6

2 p.m. – Jr. Fair Sheep Showmanship; Jr. Fair Born and Raised in Hardin Co. Market Lamb Show – Show Arena

2:30 p.m. – Dino-Roar Show – Children’s area

3 p.m. – Wood carver presentation – north end of fairgrounds

4 p.m. – Jr. Fair Breed and Beef Feeders Show – Show Arena; Glass blower presentation – north end of fairgrounds

4:15 p.m. – Children’s and teens activities – Community Building

5:30 p.m. – Dino-Roar Show – Children’s area; Girl’s Group Progressive Fair Meal  (grades 4-6) – Community Building

6 p.m. – Wood carver presentation – north end of fairgrounds; Harness racing – Grandstand

7 p.m. – Jr. Fair Steer Show – Show Arena; Dino-Roar Show – Children’s area; Just Kidding Around Goat Fun for Kids – Small Animal Show Arena

7:30 p.m. – Glass blower presentation – north end of fairgrounds

8:30 p.m. – Wood carver presentation – north end of fairgrounds

10 p.m. – Exhibit buildings and rides close

Friday, Sept. 7

Senior Citizens’ Day

8 a.m. – Born in Hardin County Market Hog Show– Show Arena

9 a.m. – Open Class Draft Horse and Pony Show – Grandstand; Senior meal ticket distribution (until tickets are gone) – Resting Tent

10 a.m. – Exhibit buildings open

10 a.m. – Dairy Beef Feeder Buy-Back Auction – behind Dairy Beef Feeder Barn

11 a.m. – Beef Dish Judging – Community Building

11:30 a.m. – Antique Tractor Parade – on grounds

Noon– Rides open; Open Class Dairy Show – Show arena; Flower Show – Arts and Crafts Building; Children’s Dairy Showmanship – Show Arena; Wood carver presentation – north end of fairgrounds

12:30 p.m. – Dino-Roar Show – Children’s area

1 p.m. – Glass blower presentation – north end of fairgrounds

1:45 p.m. – Homemakers demonstrations – Community Building

2 p.m. – Columbus Zoo Show – in front of Goshen Barn
