Water line replaced Posted on April 10, 2015 0 Kenton city workers replace a broken water line on Thursday. Kenton city workers lower a replacement water line into place to replace the old 8-inch metal pipe that ruptured Thursday morning at the corner of Franklin and Main streets in the downtown. Without shutoff valves, the entire city water supply had to be turned off to complete the repair. Water service was restored shortly after 4:30 p.m. Restaurants, which had been ordered closed because of no water service, have reopened but cannot sell beverages using city water. The Kenton-Hardin Health Department is advising all city residents to use bottled/gallon water for sanitation and cooking purposes in the home until further notice. City water can be used for bathing and laundry. Safety Service Director Jim Hites said testing of the water supply will be conducted the next few days and it is anticipated the water restrictions will be lifted Sunday afternoon.
