Kenton’s Gray to return to state

BOWLING GREEN — Kenton senior Mo Gray defended her district title in the 100-yard breaststroke on Friday at the Division II Northwest District swim meet. Gray won the race in 1:04.35, nearly three seconds faster than the runner-up. The top two finishers in each district, as well as the next 16 best times from across all districts advance to the state meet.

Bailey’s game-winner lifts Ada

ADA — Ada trailed for most of the game Friday, but took the lead when it really mattered. Jordan Bailey hit a baseline jumper off an inbound play as time expired to give Ada a 53-52 victory over Columbus Grove in Northwest Conference boys basketball.

Celina’s pressure hurts KHS in WBL loss

Kenton trailed Celina by four points early in the third quarter of Friday night’s battle between Western Buckeye League foes. Then the Wildcats fell into a trap. More specifically, they fell victim to the Bulldogs fullcourt pressure as Celina outscored the home team 17-2 over the final five minutes of the third quarter to take control on the way to a 67-39 victory on Friday night.

Raiders advance five to sectional wrestling semis

TIPP CITY — Ben Logan had five wrestlers win their quarterfinal match Friday during a Division II sectional and advance to today’s semifinals. None of the Raiders had to wrestle in the first round — and Lane Griffin at 126 pounds, didn’t even need to wrestle in his quarterfinal.

Falcons send two to semifinals

CAREY — Riverdale advanced two wrestlers in the semifinals of the Division III sectional tournament that began Friday at Carey. The tournament wrestled only championship bracket matches through to the semifinals.
