Ada woman finds
calling in flowers By CHRISTINA HOY
Times staff writer
ADA - For over two decades, one women’s passion has been to make others smile and feel good through the work of her hands.
Shannan Brown has been working as a florist in Ada since 1986 and for the last 10 years she has owned Carol Slane Florist. She began working with her mom, Carol Slane, helping her out with bookkeeping and as a fill-in.
"I was just going to help her out temporarily, but I liked it and stuck around," Brown said. "I enjoy the flowers, the creativity of it and the people I work with and the customers."
Brown said her plans were to go off to college and begin her life, but she found her interest lay within floral arrangements and not accounting. She received her certified public accountant license in 1995.

After Grove (17-7) cut what was a double-digit Riverdale lead in half by the end of the third quarter, the Falcons regrouped and refocused as they ran away with a 62-45 win in the Division III girls basketball district finals at Findlay High School on Saturday night.
Riverdale (21-2) grabs its second consecutive district championship and advances to the regional semifinals at 8 p.m. Wednesday to take on Margaretta (19-4) at Lexington High School.
